In my case, SSDLife notified me that 12GB was written to the SSD in one day. For those of you unfamiliar with this tool, it simply reports estimated lifetime for the attached SSD and it also shows the amount of data read and written. Purely by chance, I fired up a free copy of SSDLife on two consecutive days where I haven’t really used my workstation for anything other than email and browsing. Observing the Issue: Heavy SSD Writes from Firefox This issue is being discussed in a STH forum thread where you can follow the discussion. This can have an unintended effect for those SSDs as session store data can write data constantly to NAND. Today’s modern multi-core processor systems and higher quantities of RAM allow users to open multiple Firefox tabs and windows simultaneously. Mozilla says that it plans to extend this feature to all users and more sites later this year.If you are a user of Firefox we have a must-change setting. In contrast to Firefox, Google has delayed its move from deprecating third-party cookies on Chrome - now set to roll out sometime in 2024. TCP on Android will start rolling out to users starting today and will be available to all users by next month. Instead, it maintains a “separate cookie jar” for each site to maintain your data within that silo. The browser is not getting rid of cookies entirely. Last year, the company made TCP available and turned on by default in all modes on Firefox for Windows, Mac and Linux. So users had to manually select that security level to enable protection from cookie-based tracking. TCP was introduced in 2021, but it was limited to Firefox’s enhanced tracking protection (ETP) mode. This way, trackers won’t be able to gather data about your browsing behavior for targeted advertising. The feature, which will be turned on by default, will prevent cross-site tracking. Firefox announced today that its Total Cookie Protection (TCP) feature that protects users from trackers is now available on Android.
